AWEI Radio — live music from Riga, 24/7
The same AWEI live broadcast — now in internet radio format.
Live music from Riga with an AWEI DJ voice, broadcasting 24/7. Listen here or open the stream in your player.
AWEI Radio is the audio side of the AWEI wrap-dress workshop in Riga: one continuous stream on the same server as the shop, without an account, an app or a sign-up.
The stream is plain MP3 over HTTPS, so it plays in this page, in VLC or in any player that opens an M3U playlist, and every shop page links back here from its footer.
What you hear
AWEI Radio plays a continuous music programme with short spoken announcements in the AWEI DJ voice. The stream runs around the clock from the same server that serves the shop, so there is no schedule to check: whenever you open this page, the broadcast is already on, and you join it at the point it has reached.
How to listen
- In the browser: press play in the player above, and the stream starts in this page.
- In your own player: open the M3U playlist link in VLC, Winamp, foobar2000 or the music app on your phone.
- Either way the playlist points to the same MP3 stream, and no account, app or sign-up is needed.
If playback does not start at once, wait a moment and press play again: the stream is live, so the player has to catch the broadcast where it is now. On a mobile network the first seconds may buffer; after that the stream is meant to run for hours in the background while you do something else.
Now playing and listeners
When the station reports the current track, its title appears under the player; when it reports the audience, the number of listeners appears too. Both come from the stream server itself and update while you listen, without a page reload.
Part of the AWEI workshop
AWEI is a small wrap-dress workshop in Riga: ready-made dresses in linen, cotton and viscose blends, each a single piece in a stated size, shown on three body types and sold online in Latvian, Russian and English. The radio is the workshop's soundtrack, not a separate business, and the links below lead back to the dresses, the story of the workshop and the company details.
Technical notes
The stream is plain MP3 over HTTPS at /radio/stream.mp3, and the playlist at /radio/awei.m3u is a one-line text file with that address. The audio element is set not to preload, so nothing downloads until you press play; the page asks for no permissions and needs no login. The address of this page is awei.lv/radio/ — send it as it is; the stream needs no app and opens in any browser.
Why a dress workshop has a radio
The workshop server already runs around the clock to rebuild the shop pages, translate dress descriptions and render the clips, so a music stream costs it almost nothing extra. The radio is the sound of that server at work: the same machine that shows you a dress in three sizes also keeps the music going, and both stay online for the same reason — the shop never closes.
